Challenge Wanaka wins local award

We are proud to inform you that Challenge Wanaka has won the People’s Choice Award at the Ignite Wanaka Chamber of Commerce Awards 2017.  Challenge Wanaka Sports Trust Chairman, Tom Pryde, received the award on behalf of the thousands of athletes, volunteers and supporters who have made the triathlon a globally renowned event. Thanks to all of you!
A huge congratulations to one of our legacy sponsors Optum Plumbing, who took home the Outstanding in Trades & Infrastructure category.

Maps/ race manuals
All maps and athlete race manuals have been updated for 2018 and are available on our website to view.  This year we have made a small change to the bike course as you come back into the Wanaka township, keeping it safer for our athletes, volunteers and spectators.
Patron invitation
Over the past decade, Challenge Wanaka has brought international recognition to the town as well as delivering millions of dollars directly back into the community.  None of this would be possible without the support and generosity of our partners and patrons.  As a non-profit charitable trust, Challenge Wanaka is in search of patrons to continue this legacy.  If you are interested or want to know any more, please see our web page.
Merchandise
Don’t forget to pick up your official Challenge Wanaka merchandise before the event.  Buy now and receive your stash before Christmas!
Fuelling your body for racing can be confusing at the best of times. Throw three different disciplines into one race and you can have a real challenge on your hands. PURE co-founder and Sports & Exercise Nutritionist Marewa Sutherland has put together a few practical tips to tackle race day like a pro.
New partnership
We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Lake Wanaka Cruises who will be kindly providing the Pros with a very start to the swim this year – off the side of their boat, the Dual Image!
Wanaka Cruises offer daily cruises to Mou Waho Island, Stevensons Island & Ruby Island plus a Sunset cruise at 5.30pm every evening.
They also offer private charters on Dual Image for any occasion. Check out their brand new website for more details
Volunteer registration open!
Even if you’re not racing, you can be involved. Become one of the 650 Goodstays Wanaka volunteers who help keep the athletes going out on course; you’ll be well looked after & get to attend the massive volunteers party on Sunday February 18th. On race day volunteers can be in the thick of the action on Pembroke Park or out on the swim, bike or run course. We’re looking for help from Monday 12th Feb until Monday 19th Feb; plenty of things to help with in the lead up/ pack down even if you’re racing or busy on the weekend.
